I envy the man
I thought I was
Hard on Principles
Tough like rod

I envy the man
I thought I could be
Working by the book
articulate and sort-out

I envy the man
I thought I would be
Defining Perfection
Seeking beauty

Life sets many stages
Stairs I Climbed
To become a man
I wanted to be

But none of this
Would have brought me any closer
To the man
 I am and should be
