Coalescence of Divine Love with Rationality

( Exploring the reason why the idea of Loving the God has attained new Prominence)

Love is a very powerful sentiment, it can give highs and lows at the same time. It can be noticed that there is always a subsidiary emotion associated with a primary emotion. Happiness is accompanied with optimism while shock brings with it the fear of unknown. Also, it is not necessary that a particular emotion  will always bring the same 'date', sadness or loss can bring the desire to give up in many,while for few it can result in a resolve to fight harder. What is strange is that one is not sure what the sentiment of love can result in,but one things is for sure, love always comes along with  an attachment except in one case.

The Divine Romance.

The idea of loving the God is not restricted to few cultures or religions, but it can be found across the board. In Christianity it is a very pronounced feature. The idea that God sent his own son to die on the cross to absolve the sins of mankind makes the God lovable. God is also portrayed in Christianity as someone who listens to all the confessions of misdeeds without judging you, and one who always forgives. The idea of loving the God is reinforced due to the fact  that one has no responsibility towards him. He does not expect anything from you, so there is no chance of you failing him. This means that you never disappoint the God and he never complains, who will not enjoy such a relationship.

In Sanatan Dharma (a.k.a Hinduism) the idea of a supreme personality of Godhead as propounded in Bhagwat Gita is of similar substance. The idea that Krishna is an all powerful God who can be treated as a lover adds an altogether different dimension to the discourse of Sanatan Dharma. While most Gods are either fatherly figures like Brahma, or as an ideal ruler like Ram, or as a loyal servant in the case of Hanuman, the idea that Krishna can be treated as a partner in a relationship of divine romance makes the bond with him more personal and strong.

Technology Reinforces the need of Religion.

In most relationships one goes through ups and downs. We say things in the spur of the moment and then regret such utterances. We sometimes end up breaking the weak bond of relationships and however hard we try thereafter, it becomes almost impossible to bury the past. While in divine relationship one can leave the lover for any duration of time and they will be invited to come back at any point of time. This is what makes it special and attracts the masses. A corollary can be drawn between the law of thermodynamics and the way in which rationality is trending in the world. Rationality allows one to objectively understand the 'other' and is bound to bring more stability in the world. Just as in any natural process the entropy of the system increases, in the similar fashion the idea of being rational is a natural flow of scheme of things in the society with the advent of age of reason. In present times we are flooded with information which can dispel the ignorance of the past but a lot of information often puts the authenticity of the information in doubt. One can find these days millions of profiles filled with data reflecting the virtual personality of another human, all this makes it really tough for a person to decipher the real self. It is due to this reason that people have started failing in relationships more with the advent of technology.

Technology makes you expect more from your partner and it often encroaches on their personal personal space, which they themselves have leased out. Technology also makes you weak, it never fails to 'bait' you with a 'better alternative', this can very easily malign any human. It is in this scenario that the idea of divine love takes prominence, caught in the hassle of worldly relationships of jealousy, mistrust and disappointment, one tries to seek such a partner who will misguide him and whose identity will be revealed only to the faithful. With the surge in idea of rationality people have come to realize the impersonal nature of the God and therefore one gets a partner from whom one will not expect. It is a culmination of all these facts which is leading to an increase in the number of people with scientific temperament on the path of divine romance.


We must realize that we are living in rather peculiar times, when religiosity and science have found an ideal partner in each other. The ideas of rationality has reinforced the need of religion and religion itself has been refined due to rationality. Religion can today be explored not as a means of understanding the truth but it does offer certain emotions which can not be attained through rationality. It is a time when the biggest rivals since time immemorial have come together to provide the humanity a new sense of freedom and peace. It is on us to not discard any idea and extract best out of this unique time.

Shadow Play, Homosexuality and Noise.

The Silhouette.

You are walking, observe the shadows. There are three men walking together and you are watching, without any break in the attention with every other thing in your surroundings blacked. It’s a new world, there are but two entities in this room, It is you and the shadows, sometimes they all unite to form one big silhouette of man and other times they are three. It all depends on the relative position of their masters. When the masters walk together the shadows are one, when the masters are not in line, they are all separate. Anyway we will keep walking, lets come back. Everyone is back, its a huge world. [Wait, what was I doing here when I was out there? was I acting, was my fist tightly clamped, was I walking with my hands crossed at the back, do all these people realise that I am.. High] 

Discover the Music. 

You can focus, you can very distinctively pay attention to one particular frequency of sound. While you are in normal state all these frequencies get mixed and it all results in a noise. In this world you are allowed to investigate the reality of your surrounding, you can realise everything  that is happening around you, the sound of a broken paddle, of two indistinct men talking in the corner. [ Who is he talking about, is it me, why will he talk about me, Yes, God! I think there is something wrong with what I am doing, am I thinking this out loud, what if they find out that I am high]  You can create a story from every element present in your surroundings, all you need to do is come out of this cage, this quest to know everything at every time, try and streamline your approach,It will be amazing. 

My Precious, Precious ! 

Another thought popped up in the mind. Homosexuals, are they a threat as the conservatives would like to tell us or are they is this a new evolutionary trend which is  trying to find its voice inside a liberal? This is rather tough. What would happen if these people were allowed to be as they are, they would obviously try and find one of their kinds, it will be far easy, far open for them. Will it affect the other people, the question still remains. Seeing these people in the popular culture may make this a trend and the whole world may evolve into something else. But I am not fear mongering like the conservatives do, what I am saying is even if this becomes an accepted trend and many people get in this “cult”, this would not mean an end of the human civilisation as is projected. One has to realise this one fact, If there is one issue on which all of the Human Race is united and holds a singular notion is the quintessential importance of preserving Human Race. What is this whole idea new idea about “saving earth”. First, we used to hunt, then there came few scientists in lab coats with “a new research” indicating that there is something called 'ecological balance' and if all the animals die, somehow the great Human Race will also perish. The next day some “fearful” [ read God-loving] gathered around a square and started shouting save tiger. Next, we got a new mechanical muscle, the world was not big enough to sustain us, the trees became the targets. Anyway, the point is we are not trying to save the planet we are trying to save ourself. The Planet has undergone far worse than this, and it will remain, what may perish is our own existence, so let us not fool ourselves that we are trying to save planet. Let us come back to the issue. Homosexuals cannot be the end of Human Civilisation because the thing about which we care the most will always be under our control, we will always remain God Loving, fearful. We will not perish. Life is precious.  

The Tainted Glasses.

They are all Arabs.

Turkey is trying to cause instability in Syria, to weaken them and provide the northern part of the Syria to the Kurds. This can be a hidden concession given by Turks to the Kurds for the peace. Ultimately this region has always been about Assyrians, Arabs, Turks and Kurds. They have there individual identity but to the out side world they are all “Arabs”. So to an eye outside it seems that “Arabs are waring among themselves” but actually it is that cultural and aspirational differences of Assyrians, Arabs, Turks and Kurds  which is waring.

The New Jew.

Another important thing that can be concluded by these incidences. Western powers now feel that Israel is a liability. The approval of Israel in the world is going down regularly and Americans have to undesirably go down along with them. I think Americans are fed up of Israel now and want to create another new proxy state in the region. Kurdistan can play that role in the region and I think Kurdistan as a state would be more desirable then Israel. Unlike the Jewish population of non arab origin, kurds are at least seen as people of the same origin, Kurds are seen as children of the same land, following at least quiet a similar culture, “Arabs" will choose Kurdistan over Israel.

The Bride.

When I look at the region which is disputed between the Kurdish idea of sovereignty and Turkish, Syrian, Iranian and Iraqi territorial integrity I notice one very important pattern. These lands are rich in oil and once Kurds are made the new jew, they will become another protectorate of USA and like a new bride she would be honoured. That area can become as prosper as Qatar or Oman.

Not A Solution.

Anyway, there can be two solutions to the above problem One is that Kurds flight and get back a nation state exclusively for the Kurds, cutting through the present territories of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. But I think it is rather impossible thing to happen, for any legitimate government it is difficult to not loose confidence of its people and face the shame. Loosing a territory is the worst crises situation a country can undergo. So, as this cannot be a solution, what can possibly happen is that Kurdish parts of these countries  are given some kind of powers for internal governance, this can help in greater integration of Kurdish Culture. This type of a solution is the only solution that one can imagine for any territorial dispute be it the problems that Nagas are facing in North East, where they are trying to get integrated with their brothers living in Arunanchal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur,  in future even Myanmar might have to come under this fold. Similar solution would also apply to the problems in Kashmir, There has been a lot of bloodshed already and now both the parties need to stop the sound of the barrel and stop subduing the voice of solution, which is stark, clean and upfront.

At the end of it all, India and Pakistan will have to realise that they will have to stop using Kashmir as a domestic agenda and try and solve it by agreeing to ask the Kashmiris to solve the [problem themselves. Let them be of any nature, If they are separatist also, but if they are of Kashmiri Origin they have as much right to represent the Kashmiri Opinion as an opinion of a Kashmiri Pandit, who has had an unfortunate plight of separation from his own land. We must realise that every Kashmiri has an equal right to decide for themselves what is the best, we must not look at them with an eye of suspicion, whatever they decide for the Kashmir is what is right for their land. Frankly Speaking, the war was never about Kashmir, rather war was always about who is the legitimate voice of the Kashmir.

A Militant, Terrorist.

To make the Compelling Citizenry happy, both the sides prop up there own pawns. Each sides like and support that side which is in favour of their own policies. So there are all these political parties in Kashmir for India and all these  Separatist Militants, rather terrorist organisation for Pakistan which are operating and trying to shape the minds of the people. Being an Indian, there will always be a bias, a wish that democracy, secularism, peace, plurality and prosperity is what people of Kashmir want and theocracy, singularity and narrowness in culture and identity will be rejected by them. I think time has come now that we go out there and try and capture the public opinion in the Valley by removing our biases, the tainted glasses.

Indian Secular

Walking down the ugly road of his rusty old town
exclaimed an old secular, Oh what horror has befallen thee,
the alleys no more smell like saffron and where are the faces in glee,
fear rests in one of the corner and the speech is no more free.

At the end of a road, read a hoarding
Suppressed voices; are asking a way out through.
You have a love affair with your own voice
but for once have courage to try something new.


Democracy, it read is about accommodation
and not about appeasement or more rights.
Child with an extra candy will always
crawl back home alone after falling on the road.


Too Kind, Too Charitable but Too blind
emptying your own coffer, austere, dead

Kargil

It was a  battle

that knew no trails

for the saffron

was up for hail

The heroes were hung

and princess cried on dead-bed

slaves were taken in

an women raped and derailed

There was no fire

for funeral pyre

They lay dead in the field of saffron

All by themselves

For Vultures and Eagles

Played scavenger hunt.

For who chew the flesh

of the hero, the head

The marks of battle

homogenized with bite

saffron of meat

came out amidst respite

In the greens of valley

under the whites of  moon

all what was left was

Chakra of Dharma's rule

From colors of struggle

They made symbol of greatest pride

A Poet

I am but a poet

and words are all I have

I crave for the moments

of money in rich time

and of hardship and misery

when I up for a dime

of  beauty and love

and glorious sunshine

of obscurity and heartbreak

and dark ugly night

of friendship and mellowness

in the people's eyes

of jealous and hatred

towards me all the time

of victory and gain
